Foundations in Differential Geometry: Manifolds, Curvature, and Invariants
posted: 13,Nov-24
Merul Badda Talks in Math & Physics is organizing a mini-course on Differential Geometry at BRAC University under the Department of MNS.
Abstract:
This lecture series provides a rigorous exploration of advanced topics in differential geometry. Beginning with the foundational concept of smooth manifolds, we will delve into key structures such as Lie groups, tangent bundles, and vector bundles, gradually building towards the notions of curvature and connections. The series also introduces topological invariants, including characteristic classes and the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, uncovering their applications across geometry and topology. These lectures aim to bridge theoretical foundations with contemporary advancements in the field.
Instructor: Md. Hasan Kibria,
Adjunct Lecturer of Mathematics, BRAC University.
Details:
The mini-course will be held in-person at BRAC University. The schedule and outline will be shared with the registered students. Students outside BRAC University are also welcome to attend the course.
The course is offered completely free of charge.
